Leadership:
John Kitzhaber is a proven advocate for environmental protection and clean energy. His recognition of the problems facing Oregon’s environment as well as his experience with protecting those resources in an important position like Governor make him the ideal candidate. As governor in his prior terms he ran a program that encouraged local communities to get involved in helping restore and preserve their own watersheds and in turn provided the funding these communities needed to do so. He also encourages advice and ideas from outside sources, considering written views on the environment from Oregonians themselves. His strong record and plans for the future make him a very good candidate to govern Oregon.
