"Our coastal waters are the backbone of our state -- and our economy. Alex will continue to support efforts to ban drilling in Florida waters. Given the immense importance of our waters, it is also imperative that the state work to develop a comprehensive ocean management plan that preserves and protects our oceans, coastal habitats and marine ecosystems. That includes identifying appropriate areas that can be used by regulated entities."

The first topic under Alex Sink’s environmental issues page of her website is "protecting the oceans and coastlines", and this is a realistic reflection of her priorities. She has always and will continue to support as governor, a conclusive ban on offshore drilling in Florida. She also supports the development of a comprehensive ocean management plan in order to protect Florida’s waters. She has been a strong supporter of everglades restoration as well as an active voice for the protection and preservation of Florida’s lands and lakes. Her history as state CFO gives her the financial expertise to responsibly raise and allocate funds to the environmental issues threatening Florida and our country.
